TEMA Foundation kept its promise: 7 forests in 7 regions to celebrate the 30th anniversary!

Celebrating its 30th anniversary with "The Songs Raising Hopes - The TEMA Foundation 30th Anniversary Special Broadcast" on NTV TV channel, the TEMA Foundation created “TEMA Foundation 30th Anniversary Memorial Forests” in 7 regions of Türkiye with the donations of saplings from this special event as promised. The Foundation visited the forest, which is one of the 7 memorial forests and located in Celaliye, Kırklareli, and realised a sapling planting event accompanied by the opening of the signboard.

Continuing its activities for 30 years in order to leave a liveable world to future generations, the TEMA Foundation celebrated the 30th anniversary of its establishment on December 3, 2022, with the "The Songs Raising Hopes - TEMA Foundation 30th Year Special Broadcast" on NTV screens. With the donations made in the night, which drew great attention, the target of 100 thousand saplings was overachieved, and approximately 200 thousand saplings were donated.

Donations created a forest

As promised, the TEMA Foundation, in cooperation with the General Directorate of Forestry, created the 30th Anniversary Memorial Forests in 7 regions of Türkiye, namely in Denizli, Elâzığ, Eskişehir, Gümüşhane, Kahramanmaraş, Kırklareli and Kilis provinces with donations made on this special event. Today, there is at least 1 forest in each of 81 provinces of Türkiye created by TEMA Foundation donors. Thanks to the campaign organised in the 30th anniversary of the Foundation, 7 more forests were added to these forests.

Saplings planted

A visit was made to the forest, which is one of the 7 memorial forests and is located within the borders of Celaliye village, Lüleburgaz district of Kırklareli province, with the participation of Ms. Seda Öğretir and Mr. Yiğit Özşener, who voluntarily presented the 30th anniversary night of the TEMA Foundation. İstanbul Regional Directorate of Forestry, Directorate of Forestry Branch Manager Talip Kavlak and Kırklareli Forestry Operations Manager İsmail Karakaya, TEMA Foundation Chairperson of the Board of Directors Deniz Ataç, General Manager Başak Yalvaç Özçağdaş, Foundation volunteers and Headquarters staff attended the event. After the signboard was opened, the sapling planting event was started, and the representative saplings were planted.

Stating that they are proud to create 7 forests to 7 regions, TEMA Foundation Chairperson of the Board of Directors Ms. Deniz Ataç said, “Forests play a key role in combating climate crisis and protecting biodiversity due to their functions of regulating climate, water production, preventing floods, avalanches and floods, reducing the effects of drought and biological diversity.

As we all remember with deep sadness, we lost nearly 133 thousand hectares of forest assets, thousands of hectares of agricultural land, 9 citizens and millions of forest creatures due to the forest fires we experienced in the summer of 2021, which turned into disasters. Once again, we realised how precious trees, forests and nature are to us, unfortunately, after such a sad event. We now know much better that we need to protect and keep our existing forests alive, and that we need to create new forests in our country.

In this period, we give special attention to afforestation activities, and we aimed to create 'TEMA Foundation 30th Anniversary Memorial Forests' in 7 regions of Türkiye in memory of our 30th anniversary.
