TEMA, The Turkish Foundation for Combating Soil Erosion, for Reforestation and the Protection of Natural Habitats

81 Forests in 81 Provinces Project, carried out between 2008 and 2017 in collaboration with Türkiye İş Bankası and the General Directorate of Forestry, are revitalized. With the project initiated to protect nature by increasing the forest areas in Türkiye and to increase environmental awareness in society, 2 million 200 thousand saplings will be planted in 81 provinces within 5 years.

The new period of the project was announced at an introductory meeting held with the participation of Deniz Ataç, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of our Foundation, Hakan Aran, General Manager of İş Bankası, and Celal Pir, Istanbul Forestry Regional Director of the General Directorate of Forestry.

In the second phase of the project, maintenance work for 2,200,000 saplings planned to be planted between 2023 and 2028 will be carried out regularly for 3 years.

In the first phase of the project turning into an afforestation campaign all over our country 2 million 205 thousand saplings were planted in approximately 1,500 hectares of land in 81 provinces. Regular maintenance was carried out in these fields for 5 years, and new saplings were planted to replace the saplings that did not grow, dried out or were damaged. In addition, within the scope of the project, the 82nd forest was established in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus with 35,200 saplings on an area of 22 hectares.

In 81 Forests in 81 Provinces Project carried out between 2008 and 2017, the sapling success rate of the planting areas reached 84%, a great success.

We are raising hope!                                                                        TEMA Foundation
