Started in 2021 with the support of Wilo and in cooperation with the Ministry of National Education, the Water Fellowship Project aims to raise awareness of children, young people, and adults on issues such as the importance of water for life and the water ecosystem.
Within the scope of the Water Fellowship Project, educational activities prepared for primary school children on the importance of water for life, water ecosystem, water pollution, water saving, water sustainability and water footprint are carried out. In addition, with the website designed for adults, it is aimed to raise awareness on water assets and water literacy among adults.
An educational presentation and a film were developed as part of the project for primary school children. In this way, it is aimed that children understand the importance of water and gain awareness about what can be done to protect it.
A website with infographics was designed in order to raise awareness among wider audiences on water ecosystems, water problems, sustainable management of water and water literacy, and to disseminate this awareness, and it was published on www.sutema.org in a publicly accessible manner. Consisting of 8 sections, sutema.org has 46 infographics on many topics such as water assets, water cycle, water ecosystems, water use in Turkey and the world, water threats, sustainable management of water and protection of water assets.
Plus, there are "For Children" and "For Teachers" sections specially prepared for children and teachers on the website. These sections include a film designed for primary school children to convey information about the properties of water, where it is found, the water cycle and how to protect water in our homes. The "For Teachers" section also includes a presentation with information that teachers can convey to children to inform them about the importance of water for life, water ecosystem, water pollution, water saving, water sustainability and to raise awareness on water footprint.
There is also a section on the website where users can test themselves on water literacy with visuals to be shared on social media and become water volunteers.
Within the scope of the project, approximately 3,100 children at primary school level were reached in 30 provinces with the educational activities carried out in 2022.
