Climate Change Education and Awareness Project, implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of National Education and TEMA Foundation, aims to raise awareness of children and adults about climate and climate change.
Within the scope of the Climate Change Education and Awareness Project, educational activities for children at primary, middle and high school levels and awareness activities designed for youth and adults are carried out. The activities aim to raise awareness on climate change among children, youth and adults.
The project, which was prepared for children at primary, middle and high school levels, was developed to raise children's awareness on issues such as seasons, climate, causes and consequences of climate change, how the climate is affected by human activities and solutions that can be applied in daily life, according to the characteristics of the age groups. Classroom trainings are supported by educational materials such as posters, presentations, movies, e-magazines.
Within the scope of the project's awareness-raising activities, climate change presentations, documentary screenings and subsequent climate talks are organized for young people and adults. With these activities, it is aimed for young people and adults to learn about climate change, gain awareness of sustainable living, comprehend the cause-and-effect relationship on climate change and think about what they can do to protect the climate.
In the first half of 2023, approximately 2,700 children were reached in 27 provinces at the secondary school level; in the second half of 2023, approximately 5,100 children were reached in 39 provinces at the primary school level, and approximately 2,400 children were reached in 29 provinces at the secondary school level.
Approximately 50,250 children were reached in 2023 with the Climate TEMA Education Portal, which is the first of its kind in Türkiye regarding climate change education.
