The "If There are Bees, There is Tomorrow" project, which started in 2019 with the support of Balparmak in cooperation with the Ministry of National Education, aims to raise awareness about the importance of bees for the sustainability of nature, their contribution to the ecosystem, and what can be done to protect bees and their habitats.
The project includes in-class educational activities for primary school children, "In the Footsteps of Bees" bicycle tours with awareness stands for people of all ages, a website with comprehensive information about bees, films for children and adults and 2 digital games. At the end of the 3-year project, it is aimed to reach a total of 70,000 people, including 46,500 children, in 50 provinces.
Educational content and materials were developed for primary school children to raise awareness about the importance of bees for the sustainability of nature, their contribution to the ecosystem, and the protection of bees and their habitats.
It is aimed to raise children's awareness about the role of bees in our world and the importance of biodiversity through educational materials such as magazines, presentations, posters, animated films, worksheets and digital games. With the thyme seeds distributed to each child, they were encouraged to plant and grow a plant that bees love with their own hands and to protect the place of all living things in the ecosystem.
Within the scope of the awareness activities of the project, stand activities and "In the Footsteps of Bees" bicycle tours were carried out in the provinces where the project was implemented on 20 May World Bee Day and week.
In order to raise awareness of the importance of bees in the ecosystem, a website with informative texts and supporting infographics that can be used by adults was designed and launched at www.arilarvarsa.org, which is accessible to everyone. The developed website consists of five sections: Life of Bees, Bee Products, Honey Bee and Nature Relations, Factors Threatening Bees, For Our Future.
In addition, a special "For Children" section has been prepared for children on the website. In this section, the games "Adventure with Bees" and "Bees and Flowers", which were developed for children to learn about the world of bees, their habitats and favourite plants in a fun way, as well as electronic magazines, educational posters, animated films and activity suggestions that they can do at home are included.
Within the scope of the project, we reached approximately 24,200 children at primary school level in 54 provinces with the educational activities held in 2019, 2020 and 2021. In 2019, we reached a total of 10,000 people, including 5,000 children and 5,000 adults, with "In the Footsteps of Bees" bicycle tours and stand activities within the scope of 20 May World Bee Day awareness activities.
